GDPR & Your Data Rights
Your data rights and how to request deletion of your MapNinja account.
If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR give you rights over your personal data. This page explains those rights and how to use them with MapNinja. It complements our Privacy Policy.
Controller
The MapNinja team is the controller for personal data processed through the Service. Reach our privacy contact at privacy@mapninja.io.
Delete your MapNinja account
You can request deletion of your MapNinja account and its associated data, whether you use our Android app, iOS app or website. You do not need to reinstall the app or be in the UK or EEA to make this request.
- Email privacy@mapninja.io from the email address used for your MapNinja account, with the subject “Delete my MapNinja account”. If you cannot access that address, contact us so we can help verify ownership. Never send your password.
- We verify the request before deleting anything. We respond within one month and confirm when deletion is complete. If a complex request needs more time, we explain why and give you the expected completion date.
Deletion removes your account profile, sign-in sessions and synced location progress across MapNinja apps and the website. It is permanent. Uninstalling the app or signing out alone does not delete your account.
If you have a paid subscription, tell us in your request so we can help stop future billing. Payment providers may retain transaction records where required by law. We explain any records that must be retained, the reason and the applicable retention period when handling your request, including any limited retention in restricted backups.
To remove local preferences, saved games and cached files, clear MapNinja's app data or uninstall the app, and clear MapNinja site data in your browser. This is separate from requesting deletion of your server account.
Data linked to your account
We store your account details and signed-in location progress on our servers so they can sync across devices. Theme preferences, saved games and cached files also remain on your device. See our Privacy Policyfor details of the data we process.
Your rights
- Access - obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification - have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure - ask us to delete your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Restriction - ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object - object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent - where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time.
How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@mapninja.io describing your request. We may need to verify your identity. We respond within one month, which can be extended by up to two further months for complex requests; we’ll tell you if so. Exercising these rights is free unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Complaints
You can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); in the EEA it is your national data protection authority. We’d appreciate the chance to resolve concerns first, so please contact us.
International transfers
Where we transfer personal data outside the UK/EEA, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
